The First Commandment
I Am Hashem your G-d, Who has Taken you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of slavery. (Exodus 20:2)
Deuteronomy 6:4 "Hear, O Israel: Hashem Is our Judge, Hashem Is One."

What is it to know G-d? It is to know His Laws. G-d is our Judge, and we must live according to His Commandments. He Is One, and His Laws are "One," for there is only one Code of Laws--all other laws are but the thoughts of man and have nothing to do with G-d.

Who is G-d? He is our G-d, That "Took us out from the land of egypt, from the house of slavery," to Redeem us and Make us His people, that we should observe His Laws and serve as a Light unto the nations. He is the G-d That Liberated our spirits from the slavery of the body, and Made us into a great nation, that is Lead by the Spirit of G-d.

What is it to know G-d? It is to know yourself, what you are, and from What you have come. To know G-d is to know that we are more than dust, and should act according to the Spirit that is within us. To know G-d is to know that we have responsibilities, for we are responsible for ourselves and for our actions. Thus we cannot act without Reason, for it is Reason that Animates us. And we can't treat each other as dust, devoting ourselves to dust, for we are like G-d Beyond the flesh, since G-d Created us with His Breath.

Those who hide from G-d, deceive themselves. These people curse themselves, the life that is theirs, and the world that was Created for them. To break the First Commandment and deny, thus rejecting, G-d, is a curse in itself--for these people live according to opinions and suffer the injustice of their thoughts.

To deny the Existence of G-d and thus reject His Laws, is to sin against G-d; but one cannot harm G-d, and thus people only harm themselves. In Israel, such an act is treacherous--for it is an act of rebellion. When Israel becomes a nation of G-d that is Ruled by His Laws, those who would reject G-d, would rebel against the government of Israel--against the Kingdom of G-d. These people will either be expelled or killed, for they are traitors who wish to ruin Israel.

If a person should reject G-d in his heart, this is an issue between that person and G-d. For if that person lives in Israel, then he must follow the Laws of Israel, which are the Laws of G-d. Should he break these Laws, he will suffer the consequences--as Justice will be served. Therefore, any person living in Israel must know G-d, as He is according to His Laws--for these are the Laws that must be kept and observed. But if a person would not sin, yet he would openly reject the Laws of G-d, trying to lead Israel into decadence--this person would be considered a traitor and a rebel. Should this be a minor matter, his life may be spared, yet he will be cut off from his people and expelled from Israel. Yet if this person posses a threat, then he will surely die, for should his treachery succeed, many would die, and should his sedition spread, all of Israel would face its death. For if Israel is not a nation of G-d that follows His Laws, then this is not Israel.
