Miracles are over-rated. I'm not so excited about miracles and I wouldn't be so enthusiastic if I saw certain types of miracles. Pointless miracles, miracles that don't have an effect on the world for the good or for the worse--these types of miracles don't mean anything. Sometimes people interpret them as a sign, yet other times these miracles are completely ignored and don't have an effect on people and certainly not on the world. When people interpret these minor miracles as a sign, then the miracles can be used to lead people towards evil or good.
Miracles, both minor and big miracles, that are used for evil purposes--these miracles are a curse. Miracles that have a good effect on mankind and on the world--only these deserve the name "Miracle," because anything that is twisted towards the evil and interpreted falsely, is simply a product of man's corruption, that has nothing to do with G-d. However, miracles that are used to achieve good in the world are truly Miraculous and Holy, for they achieve Divine Purposes.
There are two types of miracles.
One type of miracle is that of man, which is invented by men and is the product of the thoughts of man. This can either be a feat of science or magic, which is not miraculous anyhow, or it can be a true miracle, by the Force of G-d, that is instead corrupted and twisted towards the desires of men. These types of miracles are worthless, unless they are understood to be a scam.
The only miracles worth talking about are those that were, are, or will be Inspired by G-d. The whole purpose of the world is to fulfill G-d's Intentions, and the only Reason for G-d's Laws is to bring man closer to G-d and to the role that was Intended for mankind. Thus, in the world that was Created for G-d's Creations (including mankind), a miracle is only Miraculous if it achieves this goal and makes the world a better place for its inhabitants.
You must understand that people don't have the power to perform Miracles. A miracle is something that goes against nature and breaks all the laws of the universe known to man. Man can't do this, for man is a product of G-d and mankind was Created within these laws. Man is the Breath of G-d within flesh, and thus mankind cannot but live according to these laws, known as the laws of nature, as G-d Created them.
But G-d, of course, is Beyond His Creations. Therefore G-d can Do whatever He Wants. G-d Created the laws of nature, so if G-d Wants to Break them, it Will be Done. And if a man is Given the power to perform miracles, this is only by the Will of G-d. But its dangerous for G-d to Give people such powers since man is not perfect and can use this for evil purposes.
For this reason, miracles should not be the domain of mankind. People have proven their imperfection and have shown G-d what they do with the powers they are Given--using both the standard abilities Given to man and also the Special ability to perform miracles, in order to do evil in the world. It's fine to attribute extraordinarily good acts to G-d and say that men acting within the laws of nature in such good and virtuous ways, are performing miracles, since what these people achieve is G-d's Purpose and thus their actions are worthy of G-d's Name--for they are acting according to G-d. However, people that are Given the ability to perform miracles often times end up being less divine than those who act within the laws of nature but walk in the Ways of G-d.
And lately there have been no miracles, for man is not worthy of them. The world is better off without people that can perform miracles, and miracles are better kept in the "Hands" of G-d. This doesn't mean Miracles don't occur, that they haven't occurred before, or that they won't occur in the future. And it also doesn't mean Miracles will never again be Performed through people. But the way I see it, a miracle is only needed to perform miraculous feats of benevolence; so if people love Truth and seek Justice, they will have saved themselves--and that is what matters. Only for the sake of the Upright would G-d Manifest His Glory, to Save them from the corrupt. But the moment G-d Judges man, would be a dark and fearsome day--that disorder should shatter the lives of the corrupt and order should crumble beneath the unjust.
So don't look for a miracle, don't ask for a miracle, and don't assume things to be Miraculous unless you seek good and desire only good in the world. For Miracles are not reasonable, and thus they are chaos within reality and a distortion of the order. If you desire a Miracle in your life, it means the "Hand" of G-d would be upon you.
But miracles represent the Truth
It's true that when a Miracle happens, it ripples through reality, because miracles originate from Something Greater than the world. So a Miracle makes the world look fake, since Miracles represent the Truth Beyond reality. Everything physical is but finite, and physicalities have their limits, yet people cannot reach G-d by rejecting His Creations and refusing to accept the world that He Gave them.
Since man rejected G-d and His Laws from the beginning, the soul of man has been buried beneath flesh and people have confined themselves to dust and all the limitations it contains. Therefore man can only "see" G-d through reality, and the spirit of man can only perceive the Infinite through the limitations of its body. But this is not such a bad punishment, since if we could see beyond reality without having to look through flesh, then we would cease to be human, rise beyond our bodies, and not belong in the physical world. But the world is a beautiful place, and the body can give us more pleasure than pain; only when we sanctify our soul and perceive Order... It is the Truth that Frees us and the Justice that Redeems us: These are Meaningful to the soul, and all else is deceiving.
Perhaps you want a miracle and you want to believe, but Reason is a Miracle in itself and Knowledge is more Miraculous than beliefs.
You want a miracle? Behold, a Miracle!
Open your eyes and see the world. That is a miracle.
Look at reality, yet "see" Beyond, and you will find yourself...And find yourself to be a Miracle.
Look at yourself, and look through yourself, and you will "see" G-d Beyond your body.
........................
...Do this:
Look at a mirror, and look at yourself. What do you see? Simply a reflection of your body.
But what is this reflection that you see? It cannot be your body. It is only the image of your flesh reflected upon dust--the mirror (which is made of small grains of sand/dust). But is this image who you are?
How can it be? You can take that image and imprint it on any other form of dust, but it will not be you. You can make an idol of yourself out of stone (or ore) or wood (which is any form of plant-life, as used in paper as well), but this image is not who you are. The image is only matter, without a character. It is only a form without a spirit and without a soul.
Look at yourself again, and smile. The image of you, your reflection, smiles as well. But does it smile by its own accord? You should be angry, because it mocks you. Your reflection is not you, yet it pretends to have a mind of its own. But you gave it what it has, and you made it, for it is only glass. You can see right through it, for it is hollow and empty. It contains nothing more than what was given, and reflects nothing more than was Created.
When you get angry, your reflection looks angry. When you smile, your reflection smiles. But does your reflection have emotions? Does your image contain a spirit? No! It has nothing more than what you gave it, and therefore it is no more than dust fulfilling the role of its nature, as Was Established by G-d. There is no honor in your image and there is nothing holy about your form, except that both these things are G-d's Creations. And there is nothing special about your reflection as there is nothing special about the mirror, except that both these things are the products of yourself (and of man in general).
The mirror is only a reflection of your image, and it does not contain a soul or a spirit. Yet when your face expresses your emotions and your body reflects your spirit, then that image does appear in the mirror. So the mirror does appear to have a spirit, but appearance is often misleading. And just as you are not a body, the mirror is not you.
Now look into your eyes, and you'll find Something more. Look deep, and you'll "see" your soul. Look so intently and focus so strongly, until everything begins to blur. It as at this moment that your flesh will fade away, and you won't see your body anymore. Instead you'll see a blur, and an outline of your form, but an outline that is not constant in its form. Your eyes will begin to glow and your face will not matter anymore. For you will have reached within, and "seen" your true "form." But this can last no more than a few moments, and soon you'll be distracted and see your flesh once more. Because, don't forget, you're trying to use your eyes to see your soul. Your eyes cannot see so far Beyond and they will start to tear and water under the pressure. And notice as well that what you saw was not exactly your soul; for the blur that became yourself was only caused by a distorted and hazy vision.
Like looking at the morning dew and at the day time fog; all you see is mist. And like looking at the clear blue sky, all you see are limits. But when you turn off the flesh and stand in the dark, so that there is no more light to illuminate your sight, then you can "see" What lies Beyond. When you learn to "see" with your soul, then you will know how to think with your mind and live a reasonable life. Because a True Miracle cannot be expressed to the flesh, it can only be "seen" through the soul.
Look at the mirror once more, and understand that what you see is only an illusion. Because your image is not yourself, and the mirror can't tell you who you are; just as a god is no expression of G-d.
So take that mirror and shatter it to pieces. And look at the shattered pieces of dust that are scattered over the floor. See how they shine and glow in the light. They look like gems, and are pleasant to your eyes. This is their true form, and this is their beauty. They cannot represent the soul, just as they can't possibly be G-d, but they are a good Creation when seen in their true dimension. And they are special when appreciated for their true worth.
Your flesh is holy because it contains your soul; the Breath of G-d. And the dust of your body is special because it is the dust of the world; of G-d's Creations. And you are truly special, because not only are you G-d's Creation, you contain the Breath of G-d within your flesh, and so you are Redeemed, for you are more than can be seen, and extend beyond the finite world. Truly, you are a Miracle in the world; in the entire universe, your existence is Miraculous.
Now pick up a piece of dust, and hold that spec of shattered glass in your hand. That same spec that had once contained your image...hold it between your fingers and put it up to the light. See it glow. Now take it in your hand and hide it in darkness. See it darken. This is what happens to your body when it is lit up by your soul. And that is what happens to your flesh when it is hidden from G-d and from the Light of His Reason.
Look at that piece of glass once more, and look deeper than before. How small is it really? Can there not be something smaller than this? But of course, there is. That piece of dust is made up of very small pieces of matter called molecules. And these molecules are made up of even smaller pieces of matter called atoms. And these atoms are made up of even smaller pieces of matter called protons, neutrons, and electrons.
But what are these protons, neutrons, and electrons? They sound kind of funny, no? The protons and neutrons are bound together, and they form a nucleus. And the electrons rotate around this center of energy that contains the main weight, or mass. The rest is just a force field; it is a vacuum of space.
But is this as deep as it goes, or is there something more to see? Couldn't you say the protons are like planets and the nucleus, like a sun? And wouldn't the protons and neutrons have to be Made of something as well? Of course, there must be something smaller than them. They cannot be, simply specs of dust, for even our spec of dust was not the end in itself.
No, there were "planets" and "suns" within our spec; "planets" and "suns" that formed molecules, that formed our spec. Clearly these "planets" and "suns" that form our spec are made of "planets" and "suns" of their own. For each thing must have its source, and every object must be made of something, just as the human body is made of cells, and cells are made of atoms. For how else could these things have come into being, when even our hollow glass turned out to be much more? It is not for nothing that people bow down to physical things, for they Were Created by a most Divine Source.
Within these "planets" there are "planets," and within those, there are more. And this would continue to infinity, except that everything must, and Does have a Source. And we're only looking in one direction. We have yet to ask ourselves what lies beyond.
Beyond our planet and our sun, yes, there exist many more planets and suns. Both in our dimension and as a greater whole. For just as our spec of dust was made of something, so do we combine to make something else. And all the planets and stars in the universe combine to make "molecules," and then "planets" and "suns." And of course, these things make something else as well. And it goes in this direction nearly to infinity, except that the world Created for us is not infinite. And as large as it may be and as special as our flesh might be, these things are finite, and have their end, for all flesh is limited and mortal, and all existence is but a finite product of Creation.
We can hardly see or understand our reality, and yet we are Expected to understand What Is Beyond. But there is a Reason why we're Expected to rise beyond the flesh. It is because G-d Redeemed our body and Breathed life into us--thus making us godly, in that we have a soul (the Breath of G-d). And just as we are greater than this spec of dust, we are greater than all the dust that Has Been Created, because we have a soul; something infinite in both ability and capacity, and immortal in its "form." Because Reason never dies, and it extends beyond the world and everything known in the flesh. Reason is infinite and eternal, and thus the Reason of our soul brings us close to G-d... A part of us rises beyond everything else, and this is the most important part of man--it is the part of us that makes us who we are. |
