The kingdom of Israel

The Curse of Israel is its survival. For its rebelliousness and its corruption, Israel has suffered the devastation of death; according to all the injustice it has tolerated, so has been its Punishment. When Israel separates itself from G-d, to act willfully against the Word of Hashem, the result is a world of decadence; for all who stray from His Judgement. If only Israel could be mortal, its Punishment would be swift. But since its Covenant is Eternal, its Curse is Eternal Torment. Only Hashem can Ease the pain of its burden, and only its Judge can Carry the weight of its sin. For only when Israel accepts the Rule of Hashem, are its people Lifted from the darkness of their prison... Israel wanders through a desert of desolation and its hope is a tormenting intoxication. Were only its people to look unto their Judge, they would be Rescued from the depravity of their thoughts. Read the Song of Israel (Deuteronomy 32:1-43) and you'll find no word lacking; for the story of G-d's people cannot be expressed without the Presence of its Judge.

"And this is the blessing that Moses, the man of G-d, bestowed upon the children of Israel before his death. He said: Hashem Came from Sinai--Having Shone Forth to them from Seir, Having Appeared from Mount Paran, and from the Holy Myriad, from His Right Hand--He Presented the Fiery Torah to them. Indeed, You Loved the tribes greatly, all its holy ones were in Your Hands; for they planted themselves at Your Feet to be Driven by your Utterances: 'The Torah that Moses commanded us is the Heritage of the Congregation of Jacob.' He Became King over the Upright when the heads of the nation gathered--the tribes of Israel in unity." (Deuteronomy 33:1-5).

"...May your borders be Sealed like iron and copper, and like the days of your prime, so may your old age be. There is none like G-d, Upright one; He Rides across heaven to Help you, and in His Majesty through the upper heights. That is the Abode of G-d Immemorial, and below are the roots of the world; He Drove away the enemy from before you, and He Said, 'Destroy!' Thus Israel shall dwell secure, solitary, in the likeness of Jacob, in the Land of grain and wine; even his heavens shall drip with dew. Fortunate are you, O Israel: Who is like you, a nation Delivered by Hashem? The Shield of your Help, Who Is the Sword of your Grandeur; your foes will try to deceive you, but you will trample over their haughty ones." (Deuteronomy 33:25-29).

It Is G-d Who Rules Israel; He Is our Judge. In Him do we trust, and by His Word do we act. He Is our Government, He Is The Law; there is only One King over Israel, Whose Ways are Truth and Justice; before Him will we walk, in the Security of His Judgement. The government of Israel will rule by the Rule of G-d, and it will be seated within His Temple--within the Sanctuary of His Presence. Like the spirit that is in us, so will G-d be with us; for Israel will live by the Spirit of Hashem, it will be led according to His Leadership, and will be judged by His Judgement--according to all the Decrees of His Teachings.

The Third Commonwealth

The Kingdom of G-d. There will be a king in place of the prime minister, and a prime minister in place of the president. The king will be the subject of the King of Israel, and the prime minister will advice the king in the matters of the ministers. The role of the king is to rule by the Will of G-d, according to His Every Law. No person is above the Law, and the king is like the prime minister, like a president; a subject of his Judge in the service of his people. He is a prince amongst Israel, that can only represent the Rule of G-d. Any sign of corruption and he will be impeached, for the government cannot tolerate hypocrisy, in defiance of its Judge. If a king is justly discredited he will be replaced by the prime minister, until he is succeeded by a proper heir. The kingship will be constant, like the Constancy of Hashem. When it is established, it will remain in the family, that the leadership should be solid in Israel. Only the prime minister can be elected, from the best of the people.

The ministers will be chosen according to their aptitude for the role, by the spirit that is Instilled in them. Each minister according to his function, will perform his role before the Eyes of Hashem. The assembly of leaders, from all the elders of Israel, in representation of cities and regions in the nation, which is today called the knesset--there will be seventy of them, and they will carry the burden of government, along with the ministers, the prime minister, and the king. The courts with their officials and judges, will answer to the Supreme Court, which is the domain of the Kohanim and any person who has been Sanctified to carry the Charge of Hashem. And the local administrations, including the courts, will be established from the top down, according to those who have been elected and are trusted by the population, and accepted by the government of Israel.

All will answer to Hashem, to act within the Decrees of His Teachings. There will be no immunity in the government, rather the leaders, judges, and officials will be prosecuted more severely, with any instance of corruption disqualifying a person from any role of government. The local authorities will answer to Jerusalem; the courts to the Temple and the Supreme Court, and the officials to the ministers and the seventy representatives of government. The representatives of government will answer to the people, and will be monitored by the ministers, with each significant issue being reported to the king for judgement. The ministers will answer to the prime minister, and the king will review the actions of the ministers and the prime minister, as the final figure of authority. The king will answer to the Kohanim and the judges, in matters of Torah, and will be monitored by the representatives of the government to insure the proper procedures of governance. In matters of trade, efficiency, and competence, the king will be reviewed by the ministers and rebuked by the prime minister, for the king is only limited in his knowledge. And the Kohanim and judges will be monitored by the representatives of the government, and will be rebuked by the representative of Hashem, which is the king, who's role is to insure the Rule of G-d upon Israel.

It might seem that the government is diminished by the division of authority, but the king has the power to pass swift judgement and issue decisive rulings, as long as he is not overruled for acting against Hashem or from a position of ignorance and recklessness. For acting against Hashem he would be removed from the government, and for reckless behavior his action would be overruled for reviewal and discussion. Since the Constitution of Israel is Inscribed in stone, and the Authority of our Judge is the Supreme Leadership in the government, there would be less controversy in rulings and procedures, for all know what is Accepted and what is Rejected by the Judge of Israel. Even from all the people, among whom G-d is Present, prophets would appear to fulfill roles within the government and to rebuke the people from without. Thus Israel will have been Blessed and Led by the Spirit of Hashem.

The representatives of government

Moses was a humble man, and the people were rebellious. It was such, that the Leadership came straight from Hashem, for Moses was not a man of force and rigor; he was a man of G-d, a person of Spirit. Yet the Rule of G-d must be Firm upon Israel. Thus Moses asked G-d for someone to carry the burden with him. "Hashem Said to Moses: Gather to Me seventy men from the elders of Israel, whom you know to be elders of the people and its officers; take them to the Tent of Meeting and have them stand there with you. I will Descend and Speak with you there, and I will Increase some of the Spirit that is upon you and Place it upon them, and they shall bear the burden of the people with you, and you shall not bear alone..." (Numbers 11:16-17).

"Moses left and spoke the Words of Hashem to the people; and he gathered seventy men from the elders of the people and had them stand around the Tent. Hashem Descended in a cloud and Spoke to him, and He Increased some of the Spirit that was upon him and Gave it to the seventy men, the elders; when the Spirit Rested upon them, they prophesied, but did not do so again. Two men remained behind in the camp, the name of one was Eldad and the name of the second was Meidad, and the Spirit Rested upon them; they had been among the designated ones, but they had not gone out to the Tent, and they prophesied in the camp. The youth ran and told Moses, and he said, 'Eldad and Meidad are prophesying in the camp.' Joshua son of Nun, the servant of Moses since his youth, spoke up and said, 'My lord Moses, incarcerate them!' Moses said to him, 'Are you being jealous for me? Would that the entire people of Hashem could be prophets, if Hashem would but Place His Spirit upon them!'" (Numbers 11:24-29).

The model of leadership

"Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses regarding the Cushite woman he had married, for he had married a Cushite woman. They said, 'Was it only to Moses that Hashem Spoke? Did he not Speak to us, as well?' And Hashem Heard. Now the man Moses was exceedingly humble, more than any person on the face of the earth! Hashem Said suddenly to Moses, to Aaron, and to Miriam, 'You three, go out to the Tent of Meeting.' And the three of them went out. Hashem Descended in a pillar of cloud and Stood at the entrance to the Tent, and He Summoned Aaron and Miriam; the two of them went out. He Said, 'Hear now My Words. If there shall be a prophet among you, in a vision shall I, Hashem, Make Myself Known to him; in a dream shall I Speak with him. Not so is My servant Moses; in My entire House he is the Trusted one. Mouth to mouth do I Speak to him, in a Clear Vision and not in riddles, and at the Image of Hashem does he gaze. Why do you not fear to speak against My servant Moses?' The Wrath of Hashem Flared up against them, and He Left." (Numbers 12:1-9).

"Moses spoke to Hashem, saying, 'May Hashem, Judge of the spirits of all flesh, Appoint a man over the assembly, who shall go out before them and come in before them, who shall take them out and bring them in; and let the assembly of Hashem not be like sheep that have no shepherd.' Hashem Said to Moses, 'Take to yourself Joshua son of Nun, a man in whom there is Spirit, and lean your hand upon him. You shall stand him before Elazar the Kohen and before the entire assembly, and command him before their eyes. You shall place some of your majesty upon him, so that the entire assembly of the children of Israel will pay heed...at his word shall they go out and at his word shall they come in, he and all the children of Israel with him, and the entire assembly. Moses did as Hashem Had Commanded him..." (Numbers 27:15-20,21-22).

The king

"When you come to the Land that Hashem, your G-d, Gives you, and possess it, and settle in it, and you will say, 'I will set a king over myself, like all the nations that are around me.' You shall surely set over yourself a king whom Hashem, your G-d, Shall Choose; from among your brethren shall you set a king over yourself; you cannot place over yourself a foreign man, who is not your brother. Only he shall not have too many horses for himself, so that he will not return the people to egypt in order to increase horses, for Hashem Has Said to you, 'You shall no longer return on this road again.' And he shall not have too many wives, so that his heart not turn astray; and he shall not greatly increase silver and gold for himself. It shall be that when he sits on the throne of his kingdom, he shall write for himself two copies of this Torah in a book, from before the Kohanim, the Levites. It shall be with him, and he shall read from it all the days of his life, so that he will learn to fear Hashem, his Judge, to observe all the Words of this Torah and these Decrees, to perform them, so that his heart does not become haughty over his brethren, and not turn from the Commandment right of left, so that he will prolong years over his kingdom, he and his sons amid Israel." (Deuteronomy 17:14-20).

"Moses commanded them, saying, 'At the end of seven years, at the time of the Sabbatical year, during the Sukkot Festival, when all Israel comes to appear before Hashem, your Judge, in the place that He will Choose, you shall read this Torah before all Israel, in their ears. Gather together the people--the men, the women, and the small children, and your stranger who is in your cities--so that they will hear and so that they will learn, and they shall fear Hashem, your Judge, and be careful to perform all the Words of this Torah. And their children who do not know--they shall hear and they shall learn to fear Hashem, your Judge, all the days that you live on the Land to which you are crossing the Jordan, to possess it.'" (Deuteronomy 31:10-13).

The prophets

"You shall be wholehearted with Hashem, your Judge. For these nations that you are possessing--they hearken to astrologers and diviners; but as for you--not so has Hashem, your G-d, given for you. A prophet from your midst, from your brethren, like me, shall Hashem, your G-d, Establish for you--to him shall you hearken. According to all that you asked of Hashem, your Judge, in Chorev on the day of the congregation, saying, 'I can no longer hear the Voice of Hashem, my Judge, and this Great Fire I can no longer see, so that I shall not die.' Then Hashem Said to me: They have done well in what they have said. I Will Establish a prophet for them from among their brethren, like you, and I Will Place My Words in his mouth; he shall speak to them everything that I Will Command him. And it shall be that the man who will not hearken to My Words that he shall speak in My Name, I Will Exact from him. But the prophet who willfully shall speak a word in My Name, that which I have not commanded him to speak, or who shall speak in the name of the judges of others--that prophet shall die." (Deuteronomy 18:13-20).

No longer will Israel wander in uncertainty, to follow the will of the majority. If there will be a dispute in governance, and from among all the Decrees of the Torah, the matter will be settled by the Word of G-d, not by the majority opinion. A prophet is a person in whom there is Spirit--who Sees by the Spirit of Hashem and judges with Reason. Like a philosopher and like a great scholar, who is Uplifted in the Wisdom of Torah; the prophet will have been Sanctified by Hashem, with the Wisdom of His Teachings.

"...When you say in your heart, 'How can we know the Word that Hashem has not spoken?' If the prophet will speak in the Name of Hashem and that thing will not occur and not come about--that is the word that Hashem has not spoken; with willfulness has the prophet spoken it, you should not fear him." (Deuteronomy 18:21-22).

"The Entire Word that I Command you, that shall you observe to do; you shall not add to it and you shall not subtract from it. If there should stand up in your midst a prophet or a dreamer of a dream, and he will produce to you a sign or a wonder, and the sign or the wonder comes about, of which he spoke to you, saying, 'Let us follow other judges that you did not know and we shall serve them!'--do not hearken to the words of that prophet or to that dreamer of a dream, for Hashem, your Judge, is Testing you to know whether you love Hashem, your Judge, with all your heart and with all your soul. Hashem, your Judge, shall you follow and Him shall you fear; His Commandments shall you observe and to His Voice shall you hearken; Him shall you serve and to Him shall you cleave. And that prophet and that dreamer of a dream shall be put to death, for he had spoken perversion against Hashem, your Judge--Who Takes you out of the land of egypt, and Who Redeems you from the house of slavery--to make you stray from the Path on which Hashem, your G-d, Has Commanded you to go; and you shall destroy the evil in your midst." (Deuteronomy 13:1-8).
