Exile and Worldwide Dispersion

How can a nation survive without its own land? What kind of country could be eternal, while its people are scattered throughout the lands? Israel has twice been wiped out and nearly obliterated; its people driven from their Land. Yet Israel remains, for even in exile it has preserved itself. Scattered upon the face of the earth and banished throughout the world, the Jews have not assimilated within the nations, for Israel has been preserved. Instead of being gobbled up by the lands that swallowed the Jewish people, Israel has "conquered" the conquerors and the Jews have outlived those that ruled and subjugated them.

Leviticus 26:33

And you, I Will Scatter among the nations, at the point of my drawn sword, leaving your country desolate and your cities in ruins.

Leviticus 26:43

But the Land must be rid of them, so that in its desolation it may make up its lost Sabbaths, and that they may make good the debt of their guilt for having spurned My Precepts and abhorred My Statutes.

Deuteronomy 4:26-27

I appoint heaven and earth as witnesses for you today that you Will be cut off quickly from the Land you were crossing the Jordan to acquire. You shall not remain there long, for you will be wiped out. G-d will then Scatter you among the peoples and you shall be left few in number among the nations where G-d will lead you.

Deuteronomy 28:63-64

...You Will be Torn from the Land which you are about to acquire. And G-d will scatter you among all the people from one end of the earth to the other, and there you will serve other gods, of wood and stone, whom you and your forefathers have not known.

Ezekiel 12:11,15

Say: I am a Sign for you. As I Have Done, so Shall it be done to them; into exile and captivity shall they go.

Then they will know that I Am G-d, when I Scatter them among the nations and Disperse them over foreign lands.

"The Jewish Dispersion"
by Leschzinsky

When we scan the diaspora of Jewry over the entire globe and throughout the entire civilized world, we are surprised to see that this Nation, which is almost the most ancient in the world, is in truth the youngest in terms of the land beneath its feet and the sky above its head. To be more exact: according to the lands beneath its feet and the skies above its head. As a result of the relentless persecutions and forced expulsions, most Jews are but new-comers to their respective lands of residence. Ninety percent of the Jewish people have lived in their new homes for no more than 50 or 60 years! The Jewish people are dispersed throughout over 100 lands on all five continents.
