Table of Assistance for Income Insurance And Support for the "Needy"
(Unemployment Benefits for New Olim)

Sources: The Ministry of Immigrant Absorption and Nefesh B'Nefesh Aliyah

Olim who have been in Israel for at least 6 months and are not employed, are entitled to a monthly living allowance through Misrad HaKlita, as follows. Note that unemployment benefits begin AFTER Sal Klita payments finish.

Number of Family Members
Monthly Assistance
Single Person
1248
Couple
1876
Couple + 1
2262
Couple + 2
2633*

*This is the maximum a family can receive

You are NOT eligible to receive a living allowance if:

  1. You are a student who is receiving free tuition from Minhal HaStudentim.
  2. Though you are unemployed, your spouse is already employed.

To begin receiving your living allowance, please contact your Misrad HaKlita counselor.

This living allowance is only provided during the first year of your Aliyah. If you are not employed after the first year, you must request unemployment assistance through Bituach Leumi.

You cannot receive these payments retroactively. This means that if you ask for payments, for example, in the 9th month after your Aliyah, you will receive only payments for the 9th through the 12th month and NOT for the 7th and 8th month.
